Notice of Intent: 3rd District Race

Dear Friends:

While attending the Orange Unified School District Board meeting last Thursday, it had come to my attention that Mayor Pro Tem Mike Alvarez would not file for the 3rd District special election race of the Orange County Board of Supervisors. Without his candidacy, the probable outcome for a victor will be Bill Campbell.

This scenario reminds me of a song titled: I Want My MTV. A verse where "Money for Nothing and Checks for Free" especially comes to mind. Bill Campbell, while escaping the spirit of term limits, seeks to keep his (money for nothing and checks for free) rolling into his bank account by playing musical chairs and slithering his way into the 3rd District Seat of the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

This career politician ignored the pulse of the community on issues of education, planning and policy by his own constituents on numerous occasions. He ignored the will of his constituents regarding a local matter of the Orange Unified School Board Recall and the general election that followed it. Simply put: He ignores anything good for his constituents and the communities that he supposedly served.

I am announcing my Notice of Intent to challenge this career politician, in the spirit of Ronald Reagan and that of the idea of term limits advocated by him. I am announcing this challenge to offer voters a real choice in this special election. I had been, and always will be a pro education and a law enforcement supporter. I am against an El Toro International Airport.

I will listen and consider all things that are good for the constituents and the communities that I will serve. There will be a clear and obvious choice in this election. I am seeking to serve the County of Orange; not escaping a term limit legally imposed by the voters' will.

Best wishes,
